CODE OF CONDUCT

As a member of American Inspectors Society,

1. I will practice the profession of home inspection with integrity, honesty and in an unbiased manner.
2. I will provide to my client a written statement of the scope of my services, limitations, terms and conditions regarding the home inspection.
3. I will always maintain confidentiality with my client, reporting only to my client on my findings and to no one else.
4. I will never accept a fee from more than one party for an inspection.
5. I will not perform, or offer to perform, for a fee, remedial work on a property which I have inspected in the preceding 12 months unless agreed by all parties in writing.
6. I will not inspect any property which could be construed as a conflict of interest, unless agreed by all parties in writing.
7. I will under no circumstances perform an inspection that has a predetermined outcome from a seller, real estate agent, builder, mortgage person or any other person.
8. I will not solicit, receive or give referral fees of any type to anyone.
9. I will refer trades or other specialists only when doing so is in the best interest of the client and when such referral will not diminish my unbiased position.
10. I will provide an opinion on conditions and matters within the scope of my expertise, education, training, experience and professional ability.
11. I will not comment on the work of another inspector without completely checking the inspection report and property.
12. I will respond promptly and cooperate in the resolution of any questions or complaints.
13. I will not use the AIS logo or AIS name on any inspection form which has not been reviewed and approved by AIS.
